There are a lot of do’s and don’ts about what to eat and what to avoid once you are pregnant, but what about when you are trying to conceive? Are there any certain foods which can improve your chances to conceive?
The answer is yes.
Here is the list of fertility boosting foods you can add to your diet.
1. Avocado
Avocados are a great source of Vitamin E, which is beneficial in improving the lining of the uterus. They are also rich in folate, potassium and vitamin K, which helps you absorb other vitamins properly.
Enjoy it by adding it to a smoothie or making avocado egg toast.
2. Ice Cream
Yes, you heard it right. But it’s not the low-fat variety that you should opt for. According to studies, a daily serving of whole milk or milk products (such as ice cream) protect women against an ovulatory fertility.
On the other hand, removing fat from the milk results in change in the balance of sex hormones and hinders the ovulation process.
But don’t go overboard with the ice cream and remember to compensate those extra calories by maintaining an active lifestyle.
3. Leafy Greens
These green vegetables become important as you try to get pregnancy. Veggies such as Spinach and Kale contains prenatal nutrients such as iron, calcium and folate along with tons of dietary fibre.
Include greens in your salads, sandwiches and smoothies.
4. Berries
Berries are known to be rich in antioxidants such as zinc and folate which works to de-activate the free radicals present in the body and prevent damage to the egg cells.
You can add strawberries, blueberries or raspberries to your smoothies for a delicious treat.
5. Walnuts
It is an excellent source of Vitamin-E and Omega-3 along with being high in fibre. Add a handful of walnuts to your daily diet to get a fertility boast or you can also opt for a mix of almonds and pumpkin seeds to go with it.
