Your Baby's Development in Week 24

Teething

  • This could be the month that your baby cuts her first tooth.
  • You're likely to see one of the bottom front teeth first, followed by its neighbor and then the two top front teeth.
  • However, baby teeth can appear at any time, and in any order. Be prepared by checking the signs of teething to look out for.
  • As soon as you see your baby’s first tooth bud appear, gently brush twice a day with a baby toothbrush, plus a smear of babies' fluoride toothpaste.
  • If your little one is reluctant at first, try giving her a toothbrush to hold while you clean her teeth, or even let her have a go herself.

Soothe your baby's itchy scalp

Just as your baby's skin is delicate so is their scalp, causing it to become dry or itchy easily. You may notice scalp itchiness and dryness especially when the weather changes. Oiling your baby's hair regularly can prevent this. Try Mylo Baby Hair Oil which:

  • Soothes dry, itchy scalp.
  • Promotes hair growth.
  • Keeps hair soft & shiny.

Watch video on - Identifying developmental delay in babies

  • Do you occasionally sneak a glance at a friend’s baby to check how your little one compares? You’re not alone!
  • When you hear about a baby who seems more advanced in a particular area, you may worry that your own baby isn’t developing at the same pace.
  • Although it’s natural to wonder, don’t spend any time worrying about it.
  • Every baby grows and develops at her own pace, so comparing your little one with others won't really tell you much.
  • Especially around the six-month mark, physical and language milestones can vary greatly from child to child.

What to Expect in Week 24
  • You may notice that your baby prefers to hold her toothbrush in one hand for a while, and then switch to the other.
  • You won't really have an inkling if she's a lefty or a righty until she's between two years and three years old, and even then it might not be clear until she starts school.
  • Whether your baby is left-handed or right-handed is decided before she’s born. So don't try to influence it.
  • Forcing her to use her right hand when she's happier using the left, or vice-versa could lead to problems with hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and handwriting.

Activity in Week 24

Winding Up: Play with toys that move. All curious babies love a jack in the box or a windup toy that makes repetitive movements. Helps baby develop visual skills.
