Your Baby's Development in Week 26

Watch video on - Introducing soft toys to your baby

  • Becoming attached to a toy like this is a sign of your baby's emerging independence.
  • Slowly but surely, he's learning that he's his own person, and working out what he likes and dislikes.
  • Has your baby developed a liking for soft toys?
  • You may find that his favorite becomes a beloved comfort object.
  • If so, you soon won’t be able to go anywhere without it!

Protect your baby against mosquitoes

Now that you take your baby outdoors frequently, it's important to protect them from mosquito bites and diseases. If you're not comfortable applying a mosquito repellent cream or spray on your baby's skin, you can stick mosquito repellent patches on their clothes, stroller etc. Try Mylo Baby Mosquito Repellent Patches , which are:

  • 100% natural & DEET-free.
  • Waterproof.
  • Effective for up to 12 hours.

Separation Anxiety

  • Now that your baby is starting to understand that he's his own person, he's also learning that it's possible for you and him to be separated.
  • You may find that he suddenly starts crying whenever you leave the room.
  • And he may be wary of other people, including your partner.
  • This is known as separation anxiety.
  • It can be hard on others when your baby rejects them, especially for your partner.
  • And it also means more work for you!
  • If your baby is reluctant to be left even with your partner, try to work on that first.
  • Perhaps your partner could get more involved with playing, changing nappies, your baby's daily bath and bedtime.

What to Expect in Week 26
  • If it looks like a particular toy is becoming your baby's favorite, it may be worth buying a spare.
  • Then you'll have one for him to cuddle while the other one is in the wash.
  • And you’ll have a back-up should the beloved toy ever be lost!
  • When looking for new soft toys, it's always best to buy from trusted, established retailers.
  • Make sure that the toy is well made, with no loose buttons or ribbons that could pose a risk of choking or strangulation.
