Sunflower seeds are the edible seeds of the sunflower plant, scientifically known as Helianthus annuus. They are flat, oval-shaped seeds that have a hard black and white striped shell. Sunflower seeds are popular for their high nutritional value and are consumed as a snack or used in cooking and baking.
